Norel,

OKC is a very nice, modern American city. Be sure to check out the OKC Murrah Bldg Memorial and 'Bricktown' (the entertainment district). LOTS of family activities, restaurants, and attractions.

The housing is VERY cheap around OKC, within reason. If you can, look for land out away from the city (if you enjoy the country life). It's a very FLAT place, being in the central plains of the US.

It gets VERY hot in the summer, and very cold in the winter (due to the prevailing winds not being blocked by much in the way of mountains, forests, etc.).

I hope you and your family enjoy fishing. If not, pick up the hobby. LOTS of nice places to fish around the state, one in particular being Lake Texoma, on the TX/OK line about two hours east of OKC. GREAT fishing (it's even a stop on the Bassmaster Tour), PLUS they've got outstanding camping facilities for Military personnel ONLY. Check with your base MWR for cut rate boat rentals, camper rentals, and site reservations for an OUTSTANDING way to spend a weekend or even a week.

Witchita Falls, TX is only an hour or less south of OKC. Check out the large AF Training base there, too.

Hope some of this info helps.

Good luck with your move.

Semper Fi,

GM

Yes, I've been considering the implications, and it's scary to say the least...

According to the diplo-dunks it is "not a invasion". I believe the same words were expressed over Afghanastan too.
