KOLKATA: Calcutta High Court on Monday granted bail to the senior general manager of a reputable shoe manufacturing company of Kolkata, fake rolex in a case involving violation of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. Justice Partha Sakha Datta granted Hirak Subhra Chatterjee's bail plea after his lawyer Jaymalya Bagchi submitted that investigation was in progress and his client's detention was not required any longer.
According to the prosecution, an inspector of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau's eastern regional office raided the Lindsay Street showroom of the company and seized a skin, suspecting it to be of a wild animal protected under the central Act. Fearing arrest, Chatterjee moved an anticipatory bail plea before a city sessions court. However, his plea was rejected and he surrendered before the chief metropolitan magistrate on October 30.
